Stephen Ministry

What is Stephen Ministry?

Stephen Ministers are lay care givers who provide high-quality, confidential, Christ-centered care to people who are hurting and going through tough times.

Anyone struggling through a difficult time in life – experiencing grief, divorce, job loss, chronic or terminal illness, retirement, financial setback, empty nesting, or some other life crises can receive care from a Stephen Minister.

How does it work?

A Stephen Minister begins a caring relationship when he or she is matched with a person experiencing a life crisis.

What is a typical relationship like?

The Stephen Minister meets with that person on a weekly basis to listen, care, encourage, and provide emotional and spiritual support. The caring relationship lasts as long as the person is in need of care.

Who are the Stephen Ministers in our congregation?

The Stephen Ministers who were commissioned are: Marcia Anderson, Susan Bayard, Susan Carson, Mary Coady, Kathleen Fantoni, Connie Lane, Elinor Robinson and Tom Stopka. We thank God for their gifts of caring and listening. Their ministries will be a visible witness of Christ’s care and compassion and support our parish mission “to be a living sign of Christ’s love in and for the world."
