Fr. Ren is what they call a "second-career vocation," meaning he came to the priesthood later than most. Ordained in 2014, he was 45 years old as a brand new priest.  Previously, he worked in the professional theatre as a director and producer, and a prize-winning playwright. He earned a Ph.D. in Theatre History and taught in the Theatre Arts and English departments at Salem State College. A "Christian in name only" in his 20's, he had a conversion at 31, and gradually grew closer to the Lord. After reading the Catechism, he committed seriously to the Catholic Faith--which, fortunately, was the Faith in which he was baptized. Before coming to Good Shepherd he served for five and a half years as administrator of St. Michael Parish in Hudson.
