Schedule a Baptism

Baptism is the gateway to the sacraments. In the waters of Baptism a person is welcomed into God’s family—the Church—through the bond of a covenant. In Baptism, our sins are forgiven and the Holy Spirit is poured into our hearts. This is God’s promise for all those who receive Baptism with faith. On our part, we pledge to live faithfully in the Church, keeping the teachings of God’s Law, and worshipping God at Sunday Mass. In this way, the relationship between us and God is nourished and grows. At Good Shepherd Parish, we normally celebrate infant Baptisms on the third Sunday of the month, after an initial conversation with Father Ren. To downlaod our Baptism request form, click below. Please fill it out and return it to Father Ren when you come for your visit with him. For more information, feel free to call the office at 508.650.3545.

Ask about a Wedding

Holy Matrimony is the bond between a man and a woman, forged by the Holy Spirit, that unites them in a communion of love. One of the two sacraments of vocation, holy matrimony is a sacred state of life in which a man and a woman live out God’s vision for them. While the world sees marriage as a contract that can be dissolved at any time, holy matrimony is a covenant relationship between husband and wife: it binds the couple together by a sacred promise in which each pledges his or her faithfulness to the other. In the sacrament of marriage, the husband makes a gift of himself to his wife and she makes a gift of herself to him. Open to life and the raising of children, exclusive to each other in marital fidelity, and bonded together in all seasons of life, holy matrimony is the bedrock of the family, the most fundamental society.

The Church requires at least six months advance notice before a wedding. To schedule a wedding at Good Shepherd Parish, please contact Father Ren at 508-650-3545, ext. 14; or via email at frren@goodshepherdwayland.org. To arrange for music to accompany your wedding, please contact Bethany Ratcliff, Director of Music.

Vigil Candles
A vigil candle is kept by the tabernacle at all times. The candle burns for one week. If you would like to dedicate a candle in memory or honor of a family member or loved one, please contact the office. The suggested offering is $10.00. The name of the person will be placed in the bulletin and the candle will burn for one week: Friday through the following Thursday. Please call Vina at 508-650-3545 or email her at vsousa@goodshepherdwayland.org

Schedule a Confession

Reconciliation, or Confession, is the way in which we receive forgiveness for serious sins committed after Baptism. Serious sins are those which violate the Ten Commandments and the Law of God, when deliberately committed with full knowledge. They fracture our relationship with God and with the Church. The sacrament of Reconciliation repairs both of those relationships.

For a sample list of serious sins and an aid to Confession, feel free to consult this website:

https://evangelizationstation.com/a-structured-list-of-mortal-sins-in-catholic-moral-theology/

The Church firmly holds that all Catholics are to participate in this sacrament at least once a year, normally during Lent. But the sacrament can be requested at any time, as frequently as may be needed for forgiveness and strength.

At Good Shepherd, Confessions are held every Saturday afternoon from 3:00-3:45 (excepting Holy Saturday). However, Confessions may be scheduled with Father Ren at any time. Please contact him at 508.650.3545, ext. 14; or via email at frren@goodshepherdwayland.org

Help to sustain your church with the security and convenience of Online Giving

Your Offertory donation is the main source of income for our parish, which help us cover all budgeted operating expenses. To assist you with your generous and consisting giving during the year, we have two electronic giving options for your consideration. Both systems can be used to make your Offertory donation, special collections, flower donation, Holy Day donations and others.

Our parish has been using an Online Giving system that is strengthening stewardship as well as making it easier for members to support our parish. We currently have 164 families signed up through various Online Giving sources. They include WeShare, Charitable Giving Funds and Electronic Fund Transfer (EFT) through your bank.

There are many benefits for the parish and for parishioners that choose to give online. Some of the benefits for the parishioner include: no need to write checks; you can give even if you are unable to attend services; and your contribution amount can easily be adjusted.
